CAVALCADE FORD BANTAM BEARS BRING HOME GOLD
The Cavalcade Ford Bantam Bears brought home big bling from the Kingston Canadians Tournament Series held Nov. 4-6th.  Six games in 3 days had the boys digging deep as they competed against some of Ontario’s finest A centres........

Friday, November 4th pitted South Muskoka against the Richmond Hill Stars.  The Bears scrambled to find their feet but eventually hit pay dirt.  While there was loads of end-to-end action, the Bears had to hustle for this win.  Final score was 3-1.

Game 2 had South Muskoka facing off against the Clarington Toros.  Ready for combat, the Bears got right down to business as they shut this team down with a 5-1 win.

Game 3 brought the Oshawa Generals to centre ice.   The Bears made no mistake as to their intentions as they got right down to business and put the Generals out of their misery with a 4-1 victory.

Game 4 had the Bears scrambling against the Richmond West Carleton Crusaders.   Appearing fatigued and slow on their feet, South Muskoka struggled with this game. There were no heroes on this night.  The Bears suffered their first loss of the tournament .  Final score was 2-0.

Sunday, Nov. 6  had the Bears playing in the semi-finals against Newmarket.  Well rested and clearly focused, the Bears played some of their best hockey on this day.  Locked and loaded South Muskoka dominated from start to finish.  Newmarket took a hard hit with a 4-0 loss.

With the championship game on the line, the boys were now playing for Gold against Richmond West once again.  While the first frame ended scoreless, the Bears dominated the play and were finally rewarded only minutes into the 2nd period.  By the time this frame was over the Bears were up 2-0.  An open netter sealed the deal as South Muskoka skated off winners with a 3-0 final and a big fat Gold Medal.

Head coach, Dan Blum was happy for this win.  “ The coaching staff was very pleased with the way the team competed this weekend.  We played two very good teams in Newmarket  (semi) and Richmond Carleton (finals) and to win both of those games 4-0 means we had good goaltending, team defense and offense.  It was a total team effort and they continue to move in the right direction”.
