Submitted By majormidget on Tuesday, November 12, 2013
Thursday, Nov.7th the Progressive Waste Management Major Midgets hit the ice in Orillia to start the tournament at 9:30pm

At 6:25 of the first Walker Davison opened the scoring unassisted.  Two minutes later, Nate Delarosbil netted a goal unassisted.  Game was back and forth until 14:22 when Evan Lade scored from a pass from Matt Bedforth making it 3-0 over the home team of Orillia.  Harrison Pharaoh notched his 1st shut out of the tournament.

Game 2 Saturday afternoon, the Bears had an undisputed win against Meadowvale with a score of 7-0.  Keeper Owen Nudd had a shut out.  Skating, passing and the tip shot secrets to success.  Bailey Davis, Evan Lade each had two goals, singles to Delarosbil, Bedforth, Davison, Luke Armstrong, and Ethan Nudd.  Boys had to return for their 3rd game at 10:15pm  against the Port Perry squad.  Game started late and finished at 12:10.  Both teams took their turn with offense.  At 6:42  of the first Michael Kruger scored from the point.  Play assists awarded to Evan Lade & Bailey Davis.  With only two penalties awarded to each team, the 1-0 lead by the Bears kept the fans on edge at the midnight mark.  The coaching staff of Port Perry pulled their keeper, and started the play with an extra man hoping to tie.  Matthew Bedforth pounced and shot to to net an empty goal at .28 seconds.  Bears win 2-0 and move on to semi finals.  Harrison Pharaoh took his second shut out for the weekend.  Sunday morning, the Major Midget team had a 3 game shut out record.  The opposing team from  St. Thomas was geared up for the challenge.  At 5:55 of the first, Walker Davison had a beautiful shot and opened the scoring unassisted.  Game was very exciting through the second with each team battling in the corners.  Owen Nudd was the goal keeper, and was kept busy keeping the St. Thomas green machine out of his space!  At 12:13 of the 3rd, George Wood scored on a play from line mates Ethan Nudd & Blake Peacock.

So in summary, 3 shut outs, 3 OT shooters, and only 3 goals against ALL weekend, the boys were eliminated.  Great tournament.
The Major Midget Bears looking forward to their home tournament Nov. 22.  Mark the day for some great local hockey from these boys.
