Stan Darling Insurance Bantam AE Bears win Silver in the all-Ontario OMHA finals vs. Pelham Panthers
After a long playdown run the Stan Darling Insurance Bantam AE Bears end the season with finalist silver medals....
Winning the Muskoka-ParrySound Championship tournament with a 3 game sweep was the prelude to a long playdown run, going 4 rounds vs. Huntsville Otters, Duoro Dukes, Penetang Flames, and finally Pelham Panthers in the final round.
The 1st series vs. Huntsville was a quick 3 game sweep for the Bears. The 2nd series vs Duoro was tougher... going all the way to game 5 with the Bears battling back to win the series from being down 2 games to 1. The 3rd series vs. Penetang was a long hard series with plenty of physical contact and aggressive play. The games went back and forth and with the series tied up 2-2 the Bears battled on the road to bring home the series win and move on to the OMHA finals. Heading into the final series on March Break weekend with injuries, bruises and a short bench the Bears were defeated in 3 games. The Bears left it all on the ice for the final game on home ice in front of a full house. The Bears tied the game up 1-1 in the 1st period and pulled ahead 2-1 in the 2nd, but the Pelham Panthers had momentum and did not let up, final score 4-2 for Pelham.
Making it all the way to the OMHA finals is a tremendous achievement and something to be very proud of. Pat yourself on the back and hold your head high Bantam AE Bears, you've earned it!
