Further to the updates shared Monday, we'd like to help everyone understand how these policies and procedures affect all within our association...
We understand there is conflicting information within Covid procedures however, we as an association are bound by the regulations put forth by the Province, Local Health Unit, OHF, OHMA and the individual Townships that manage the arenas we use. This means we are limited to the most restrictive rules in place within these governing agencies.
The following is to summarize what’s been announced and what current rules we must adhere to in compliance with all governing agencies:
*Players are able to enter the building 15 minutes prior to ice time
*Players must be fully dressed minus skates, helmets, gloves
*Covid screening must be completed BEFORE ENTERING THE BUILDING using the QR screening form and WILL BE VERIFIED by managers. QR codes can be found on arena doors or this link can be used so long as it’s completed on the DAY of participation.
*NOTE the link can be bookmarked or saved to your home screen for convenience
SMMHA Covid Screening Form
*Effective Wednesday, September 22, 2021, EVERY person ages 18+ entering an arena for SMMHA participation or spectating, must show proof of FULL vaccination or approved exemption to the ARENA STAFF as outlined by the Province of Ontario and OMHA. This will take time and may result in delays entering the arena. We all need to practice kindness and patience as this is awkward for everyone involved. Full vaccination/exemption AND identification must be provided to confirm proof. Failure to provide both will result in denial of entry. Identification must include NAME and BIRTHDATE.
Examples of acceptable identification include:
- Birth Certificate
- Citizenship Card
- Driver's License
- Government (Ontario or other) issued identification card, including Health Card
- Indian Status Card/Indigenous Membership Card
- Permanent Resident Card
Effective Sunday, October 31,2021, all players born 2009 or before are required to be fully vaccinated (including the 14-day period after receiving their completed dose) or obtain approved exemption. This means in order to comply with the vaccination time frame, players must have received their first dose on or before September 17, 2021, and will receive the second dose on or before October 16, 2021.
If a player qualifies for an exemption and would like to apply for accommodation to participate with SMMHA, you must do so directly with OMHA using the link below. For all other exemptions, please see the Province of Ontario exemption process.
