BEARS WIN! Advance to 2nd round.
What a series this was! 3 overtime games, 6 games needed in what is normally a best-of-five and it all came down to the 6th and final game where it was win or the season is done. The Progressive Waste Solution Bears deposited the Otters in the recycling bin!
They did it in emphatic fashion shutting out a very fast, skilled and deeply talented team in the process. The Bears did it with hard work, buy-in to the team and individual objectives, good goaltending and scoring touch when it was needed. One of the intangibles was that from one end of the bench to the other, regardless of their role, the players supported, cheered and encouraged each other. They have become a real team.
Throughout the regular season Huntsville had our number. Sometimes it wasn't pretty, but in every game that really mattered, the Bears came up big! They beat Huntsville in the championship game in their home tourney, They beat Huntsville in the championship game in the MPS final... and now, as arguably the underdogs, they once again vanquished the Otters who had home ice advantage to start... and in the final deciding game, did it with a convincing 4-0 shutout! It was an intense series and Huntsville deserves credit for pushing the Bears to the absolute limit.
The incredible number of fans that came out on Super Bowl Sunday were appreciated for their support... they were rewarded with entertaining and winning hockey!
Next up is Napanee from Eastern Ontario. We know very little about this team but come out and support the Bears when they face them this coming Friday night at Bracebridge Memorial Arena! Fan support has been an important part of our success and we hope it will continue. GO BEARS!
