Mooretown Tourney Champs!
Your Progressive Waste Solutions Midgets travelled all the way to Mooretown Ontario, just south of Sarnia, for their second tourney of the season.
In the first game VS the host team Mooretown, the Bears jumped out to a 4-1 lead but faded late in the game and it ended in a 4-4 tie. The late fade was blamed on weary 'road legs' resulting in not maintaining a full effort for 3 periods.
The 2nd game was Saturday against Lambton and again the Bears jumped out to a lead only to see it vanish again resulting in a 3-3 tie, Maybe a late night was the reason?
Our 3rd tourney game on Saturday was important if the team was to play in the Championship... they needed a clear win. This time there was no lack of effort for the full game and it showed with a 6-1 win over Dresden. This set up a Championship final and return match with the host Mooretown team.
The boys once again played a full and determined game... beating the home team by a 4-1 score to win the Championship.
Some game notes:
The goalies equally shared the weekend games and provided solid play throughout. Overall, the skaters worked hard and frustrated the other teams with their unrelenting attack, back-checking and support away-from-the puck for each other. They also shared the puck with each other on offence and shot the puck more often both of which produced some beautiful goals. In this region we were happy to experience the type of play that allowed the boys to play an aggressive, hardworking style of play. They were also recognized and rewarded for their discipline.
In winning this tourney they were a class act all the way! So far this season, 2 tourneys... 2 Championships!
