Successful Quarter Finals Wrapped Up!
Even though the Bears lost the coin toss for home ice advantage, they were true road warriors in this series.

The 1st game involved a trip to Prince Edward County to play the Kings. It was a miserable day to drive and any team could have used this as an excuse to start slowly but not these players.  They won handily even if the 4-1 score didn't show it.

Game 2 was a Valentines Day showdown at the Graeme Murray Arena. The Bears dominated in such a fashion it could have been a Valentines Day massacre but the 'finish' needed just wasn't there to run up the score. Still, a great crowd showed up and they weren't disappointed as the Bears again won convincingly 4-0. It was a real boost to have so many supporters in the stands and a big 'thank you' goes out to them!

Game 3 was a chance to wrap things up. It involved another long drive to Prince Edward county but the players didn't come all that way to do anything but win!  It was a real treat to play in the new Wellington arena, home of the Wellington Dukes Jr. A team.  Our local decision-makers about such future facilities, would be wise to take a close look at that Wellington Arena in a town of only 1700 people. Such a well thought out facility would look good in Bracebridge!

Back to the game at hand... the Bears won 3-0. Again they dominated play but didn't light up the scoreboard as much as the balance of play suggested.  Owen Nudd was an important reason for the shutout, making a few good saves when needed, especially during a stretch when shorthanded 2 men for 4 consecutive minutes.  A preventable situation in the future we hope!

The South Muskoka Bears now move on to the Ontario Semi finals.  It will be much tougher from here on.  Our next opponent will be either Niagara-On-The-Lake or Collingwood.  Stay tuned for the game schedule and we hope everyone will bring their friends and families to enjoy and support some of the best hockey in the region.
