Solid Start to Round #2
After eliminating the Huntsville Otters in the 1st round of play downs, the PWS South Muskoka Bears traveled to Prince Edward County to begin the 2nd round.

It was a snowy day to be on the roads making it an even tougher task for the visiting team.  In an effort to shake off their 'road legs' it was hoped the team would arrive 2 hours prior to game time... but due to bad weather and a very slow drive, they had just enough time to prepare before hitting the ice.

The 1st few minutes showed a little rust and tiredness and at the 5:30 minute mark the Prince Edward County Kings scored 1st.  This seemed to wake up the Bears however and they began to dominate the offensive zone with their relentless checking and cycling game.  After a rejuvenating layoff during the Huntsville series, Sye Ellard let everyone know he was back and in fine form!  Sye scored twice in the last 2 minutes of the 1st period to spur the team on and give the Bears a 2-1 lead going into the second period.

The 2nd period saw more domination of zone time by the Bears.  On a beautiful redirect on a pass from Delarosbil, Waters slid one through the Kings goalie's pads and the lead was stretched to 3-1.  A bit later while in a little penalty trouble, Woods danced inside the Kings zone, and completely undressed the goalie, showing great patience, pulled the puck to his backhand and lifted it into a wide open net with the goalie looking for his shorts on the other side...

The 3rd period was uneventful but the Bears were firmly in control. A solid effort in net by James Gee gave the Kings little hope in this one.

Next game is in Gravenhurst February 14th at 3:15... so bring your Valentine and show some love to these Bears!
