Bears beat Otters to advance to round 2
After 3 games in 3 days, the PWS Major Midget Bears took a 3 games to 1 first round series victory over the Huntsville Otters.

The weekend action started Friday night in Bracebridge as the bears went into the game with a 1-0 series lead.  The Otters came out flying making it 3-1 Huntsville after the first period.  Fortunately the Bears were able to battle back in the second period and tie the game up at 3.  The Bears looked much stronger in the third period but it was the Otters that were able to get the go ahead goal with just over 2 minutes remaining.  With little time remaining the Bears pulled their goalie and evened the game again with the extra attacker.  Overtime saw the Bears take an early penalty and Huntsville capitalized on the PP to take a 5-4 OT victory.  Series tied 1-1.

Saturday night the Bears were off to Huntsville for a pivotal game 3.  Unlike the previous two games, the Bears got off to a great start taking a 5-0 lead.  Penalty trouble allowed Huntsville to climb back a little bit but all they could manage was 2.  With a much better effort, the Bears took a 2-1 series lead and got ready for game 4 Sunday night in Huntsville again.

Game 4 never seemed to be in doubt.  The Bears dominated possession of the puck and it finally paid off as Delarosbil scored 4 goals in under 4 minutes to end the second period!  The Bears added 2 more goals to take a convincing 6-0 win and wrap up the first round.  Although it was Delarosbil with the goals, it was a total team effort that should be credited with the victory, as all lines were dominant throughout the game.

The Bears now wait for the winner of Prince Edward County and Lindsay.  Prince Edward County leads the series 2-1.  Game 4 goes tonight in Lindsay.  Stay tuned for round 2!
