U-15C Gives Back to the Community
In the spirit of giving back to the community during this holiday season, the U-15C Bears spearheaded a "shoebox" project, similar to that which our community has embraced in relation to women, to support homeless and disadvantaged men in our community. The boys filled 24 shoeboxes with much needed items such as personal care products, warm clothing like hats and mitts, and other donations from the community. Once the shoeboxes were filled, the boys also handwrote a card to go with each of their shoeboxes. We are so proud of how these boys rose to the challenge to do something which benefits others in our community.
Thanks also to our wonderful team parents, who wholeheartedly supported this initiative by donated and helping the assembly line along side with the players. Kudos as well to our wonderful team sponsor, Muskoka Kia, for making a financial donation and also to our amazing local businesses,Tim Hortons - Depot Drive, Bracebridge Canadian Tire, Food Basics and Giant Tiger, for donating much needed product to assist in filling the boxes. In total, with all the donations, the team was able to send 24 shoeboxes into the community to help out those who need it. A special thanks to Ashley Orchard, our team parent who spearheaded this initiative; without her we couldn't have done it! Go Bears Go!
