SILVER MEDAL FINALISTS – ANDY MCGARVEY MEMORIAL TOURNAMENT – NOV 17th – 19th, 2017.
On the weekend of November 17th to 19th,
2017, the Norstar Novice Rep Bears travelled to Napanee to participate in the
Andy McGarvey Memorial Tournament. The
Bears played 3 games, with their final round robin game played early Sunday
morning. This game ended with a Bears
win to advance them to the semi-finals against the Napanee Stars. This semi-final game was intense and hard
fought by both sides. But regulation
time wound down with the teams locked in at 2 goals apiece so it headed into
overtime. Just minutes into the overtime
period, the Bears made that crucial goal, winning the game 3 – 2, which meant
the Bears were headed into the finals (and their third game of the day!)
against the Brockville Braves.
The Bears put up a valiant fight but in the end, the Braves won it with our Novice Rep Bears being declared the silver medal finalists. After watching the team play those three games on Sunday, there is no doubt that each of our Novice Rep Bears wholly deserved to be awarded those silver medals. Congratulations Bears!!! Stay tuned for more stories on this weekend, including our "Hardest Worker of the Game" Awards and also make sure to read our article in the December edition of “Overtime.”
