Exciting News from SMMHA
South Muskoka Minor Hockey is thrilled to announce some fantastic developments for the 2025/2026 season!

We’re proud to share that SMMHA has been granted approval to host both a U16 (A loop) team and a U21B team this upcoming season.

This marks a major milestone for our association as we continue expanding opportunities for our players.

This news was provided to us from OMHA this past Tuesday (April 22, 2025). While many details are still being worked out, we are actively seeking direction from both OMHA and OHF. Under the new open borders policy, OHF put a temporary hold on additional teams that weren't part of the program last season—though there are exceptions, which require OMHA/OHF approval.

At present, we do not know if we are permitted to have a U18D team or if we can transition our current U18 Select team into a U18D format. Since tryout card sales are still open, we’ll have more clarity on registration numbers for U16 and U18 and the OMHA/OHF options to us.  More to come...

In addition, U16 tryouts would be scheduled after May 5th, depending on ice availability and registration numbers. Coach applications for U16 will open shortly beforehand. Rep D coach applications will stay open until B tryouts are complete.

Families with players born in 2010 who have already purchased tryout cards will be notified via email as updates become available — no action is needed at this time.

U21 tryouts will begin in September, with coaching applications opening later this summer.

Please refer to the SMMHA calendar for up-to-date dates and times.
Tryout card purchases close April 30th, 2025.

This is an incredible opportunity for youth in our community, and we are deeply grateful for your continued support, flexibility, and enthusiasm as we grow and move forward together.

Let’s make this season unforgettable!
