Heading into the MPS championship weekend the Fowler Peewee Rep team was in a slump with a few ties but no wins in over a month.
Game one was against Parry Sound, a team we had just lost to the weekend before. The boys were pumped and knew they had to step up their game in order to get a win. They came out strong with a goal in the first 3 min and never looked back. The Bears broke their winless streak with a strong 7-4 victory.
Our second game was against Highland Storm, a team the Bears had just lost to at our last meeting. Once again the kids played hard hockey with strong fore checking and great defense. The Bears won this game 5-4.
The championship game was a rematch against Highland Storm. After 3 periods the score was tied 2-2 and we headed into 3 on 3 overtime hockey. It took 14 minutes of overtime play but Daniel Downing chipped a pass from Noah Holmes over a scrambling goalie to end the game and to win the MPS Championship. Congratulations Bears! Good luck in the OMHA playdowns!!
