IN MEMORIAM - Eric “Squid” Faulkner
The hockey community has recently lost a great man, Eric “Squid” Faulkner passed unexpectedly on Wednesday March 13, 2024 while recovering from double bypass surgery. Born in Nova Scotia, Eric found his way to Muskoka in 1970 driven by his love of both hockey and a special girl. He was a proud dad, husband, papa and brother, and a passionate coach (even when he wasn't officially coaching). Even after imparting all his expertise and insights on soccer, baseball, and hockey to his own children, he continued to share his pearls of hockey wisdom with his grandkids.
He was a master puzzle solver, crossword fanatic, connoisseur of fine and not-so-fine wines alike, bonfires, golf, and impromptu dining room dance parties. He spared no expense when it came to his kids and their hockey, figure skating, and soccer pursuits, and this was especially evident during the holidays.
We are honoured that the Faulkner family have chosen South Muskoka Minor Hockey Association as the organization to send donations to. We will connect with the family at a later date to discuss their wishes of the direction of these funds for the association.
