Zarmac Atom AE Bears Play Hard at Silver Stick Tournament

Bears travelled to Haliburton for the Silver Stick tournament over the weekend.
. It was an early start for the Bears for the first of 3 games on Saturday with a 9:00 game against Durham Crusaders. The teams were very even in skill level with no scoring until late in the 2nd period, a goal for the Crusaders making it a 1-0 game. The Bears kept battling but it was the Crusaders that came out ahead with a final score of 2-0. Game two the Bears faced off against the Woodstock Jr Navy Jets. The Jets took an early lead in the first with 2 goals, the Bears came back with 2 goals in the second , one by Ashlin Baker from Kaston Johnson, and another by Owen Brasi to tie it up at 2. The 3rd period the Jets pulled ahead to win the game 5-2. The 3rd and final game of the day, the Bears met Prince Edward County Kings. The Kings had won their first two games and were looking for a third. The Bears were up for the challenge and played hard all game but were defeated 2-0. All three games were very close which made for some exciting games to watch. Coach Bill summed up the day with the following, “ Superior effort and great intensity made our team a formidable opponent. The Bears never gave up and all played with heart.”
