Welcome to the 2023 U13B Dan Bell and U13C Kris Clement Tournament.

The tournament dates are: Friday, October 20th to Sunday, October 22nd 2023.
Entry fee:   $1300.00 (4 Game Guarantee)
The OMHA sanction number is: 11993

There are no gate fees and the entry fee is $1300.00 per team.  
Games will begin on Friday, October 20th, 2023.   
We will make every reasonable attempt at scheduling traveling teams to begin later in the day,
eliminating the need for a hotel on Thursday night.

2) Wait for an email from the tournament director that your registration form has been received. Once received, continue to the third step.

)  Please e-transfer payment of the required tournament fee to SMMHA through e-transfer at the following email address: [email protected]

Once the online registration form and tournament fee have been paid in full, the Tournament Director will send a confirmation of your place in the tournament via email. 

 
3)  Email an OMHA approved roster and travel permit as soon as they are available to the Tournament Director.


Your spot will be confirmed via an email from the Tournament Director once the registration form has been submitted and the registration fee has been received.   The approved roster must be submitted as soon as you have it and at least 10 days in advance of the tournament to continue to hold your team's spot.    Spots will be filled on a first come, first served basis.  A waiting list will then be utilized to fill any cancellations.  Tournament rules and a schedule will be posted prior to the tournament dates.  Tournament rules will be strictly enforced.

Refund Policy

1. If this tournament is canceled due to government regulations (including restrictions due to COVID-19), then a full refund of both the deposit and payment of any tournament fees, will be given without penalty. 


2. If a team withdraws from the tournament 6 weeks prior to the first day of the tournament then a full refund minus a $50.00 administrative fee, will be refunded. The team must notify SMMHA by email.

3. No refund will be provided if a team withdraws from the tournament within 6 weeks 


of the first date of the tournament, unless SMMHA is able to fill the withdrawing team’s spot with another paying team.  If that happens, then a full refund, minus a $50.00 administrative fee, will be provided.

Tournament Rules and Regulations
1. This tournament is sanctioned by the O.M.H.A. and all O.M.H.A. Rules and Regulations apply. The OMHA minimum suspension guidelines will be strictly enforced. All suspended will be enforced according to the OMHA 2023/2024 Manual of Operations.
2. A copy of an OMHA team roster must be presented to tournament officials prior to the first game. Changes to the roster must be made in writing. No roster changes will be permitted after the first game has been played.
3. All managers must report to the registration table in the arena of each game, at least 45 minutes prior to their game and fill out the game sheet. Please ensure all bench staff sign the game sheet as well. The Gamesheet Ipad (which must stay at the registration table) must be completed 15 minutes prior to the start time of any game.
4. Team rosters are limited to 19 players, including goalies.
5. If a player doesn't play at least 2 games in the round robin they cannot play in the finals
6. All teams MUST be available to play at least 15 minutes prior to the scheduled start time of any game.
7. All teams should bring two (2) sets of jerseys. The "Home Team" will be designated on the schedule. Home teams must wear light coloured jerseys where possible. In the event of a conflict, the home team must change their jerseys. Visiting teams will advise the opposing team and tournament official at the registration table of any conflict 30 minutes prior to game time.
8. Teams must play all their scheduled tournament games.
9. There will be a 3-minute warm-up prior to each game.
10. Round Robin Games (for U13-B and U13-C) & Final games for both U13-B and U13 C will consist of a 10, 10, 15 stop time periods.
11. If the goal differential in any game is 5 or greater, at any time in the third period, the clock will run until the spread is reduced to 3 goals, at which point, stop time shall resume.
12. Flooding will be at the end of each game of the tournament.
13. The tournament will consist of 10 teams in the U13-B division and 6 teams in the U13 C division. In U13-B, teams are guaranteed 4 games in a Round Robin format with the top two teams advancing to the finals, subject to the scoring system set out below. For U13-C, the teams are guaranteed 4 games in a Round Robin Format, with the top 2 teams proceeding to the finals. The following scoring system will be applied during the round robin portion of the tournament to determine the top two teams for the finals.
Points: 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie, and 0 points for a loss.
14. All round robin games will stop at the end of regular play, even if it is a tie game.
15. The teams at the end of the round robin, will be ranked in each division in the following manner:
♦the team with the most points;
♦If there is a tie, then the following tie breaking format will be applied to determine the seeding:
♦If a two-way tie exists, then the winner of the game between the two teams advances (Head to Head Winner). (rule does not apply if 3 or more teams are tied, or if the two teams did not face each other in the round robin)
♦If still tied or if more than 2 teams are tied, then the team with the highest GF%, as shown on the tournament website (GF/(GF plus GA);
♦If still tied, then the team with the lowest penalty minutes across all games;
♦If still tied, then the team with the fewest goals against;
♦Most goals for and then, if still tied, a coin toss.
16. SEMI-FINALS AND FINALS:
1. If tied after regulation play in the Championship Game, there will be a five minute sudden-victory overtime period where teams will play 3 on 3 plus their goaltender.
2. Penalized players will serve their time and the team with the power play will add a 4th player.
3. If the penalty ends during game play each team will play with 4 on 4 until a stoppage of play, where play will resume with 3 on 3 play.
4. If still tied, a shoot-out will be utilized to determine the winner:
17. SHOOT-OUT RULE:
1. Shoot-outs only apply in the Championship Games.
2. Each coach will appoint three players as shooters.
3. Shooters will alternate with the home team beginning first.
4. If one team scores on its first 2 shots and the other team does not score any goals on its first 2 shots, then the third shooter is not necessary.
5. If still tied after 3 shooters, the Coaches will appoint another shooter, then it becomes a sudden-victory shoot-out. The first team to score when the other team does not, shall be the winner.
6. No shooter may repeat until all skaters have taken their turn.
7. Shooters must maintain the order of the first round if a second round is necessary.
8. All applicable sections of the CHA Penalty Shot rule shall apply during shoot-outs.
9. Teams do not change ends for Overtime or Shootouts.
18. AWARDS
Champions and Finalists of the Championship game for each Division will receive awards.
19. One Time-Out is allowed per team per game only for final games.
20. All decisions of the SMMHA Tournament Director, or in her absence the Tournament Convener, are final.
21. Games will be played in Gravenhurst and Bracebridge arenas.
22. The coach from the opposing team will choose the opposing teams MVP for the game at the conclusion of the game. They will present the award to player infront of coaches bench. MVP medals will be handed to the manager prior to each game when they fill out game sheet.
