ZARMAC Atom AE - Game of the Week Summary - Almaguin Ice Devils @ Bracebridge, Nov. 10/18
On Nov. 10th, the Ice Devils travelled to Bracebridge for our first of two games against them at home this weekend. The first ½ of the first period saw both teams battling it out. Ben W. in goal made some spectacular saves to keep the Ice Devils off the scoreboard.
But at exactly 5 mins in, Evan A., assisted by Grayden Z., sliced in the first goal of the game to give the Bears the early lead. Lincoln W. was aggressive this period, making some back to back high shots on net which put the pressure on the Ice Devils goalie. With just three minutes left in the first period, Hunter L. picked up a great pass from Evan A. and Grayden Z., to slam in our second goal of the game, giving the Bears a safe lead heading into the second period.
Jack G. was right on point, defending the net well and solid at all times. He made a crucial save from right in front of the net to stop the Ice Devils from getting up on the scoreboard. The second period was intense and saw both team working hard to advance. Tyson O. made an impressive steal and carried down the length of the ice for a great shot on net. Phenix C. also made some aggressive shots on net, which flew high and were so close! On the defence side, Jack G. and Doran S. made a formidable team, thwarting the Ice Devil’s advancement at every turn. On the offensive end, Trent C. and Chris R. were determined to move that puck and contributed to some phenomenal passing in this game. The second period ended with the Ice Devils still shut out.
Moving to the third period, the Ice Devils took the lead within the opening seconds of the game and scored one, cutting our lead to one. Not to be outdone, Brayden R. pick up a pass from Jack G. from Joshua D. and turfed in it, to put the Bears back up by two. While the Ice Devils took another one a minute later, the Bears defence kicked it up a notch in response. Malcolm G. made a crucial save in the last few minutes of the game to officially melt the Ice Devils, which allowed us to secure the win at 3 – 2. Ben W. was amazing and had another solid performance in net.
