Three of Four possible points gained on weekend!
Coming off a very competitive weekend at the Silver Stick in Midland, the Progressive Waste Solutions Major Midgets had some wounds to lick and some traditional rivalries to take on.
First on the agenda Friday night was the Collingwood Black Hawks. The Bears played a strong game and eventually got a few pucks behind a very large Collingwood goalie! The score was 3-0 before fading a little and letting Collingwood close the gap to 3-2. The Bears hung on to win however and gain an important 2 points.
We enjoyed a day off Saturday to rest and enjoy a great gathering at the Little's house. As always, the hospitality was unmatched and everyone especially enjoyed an entertaining video of the team in action. Thanks to the Littles for a great event as always!
Sunday brought Huntsville to town. This is a great matchup that neither team EVER wants to lose. In this case, no one did! It was an up-n-down game where the Bears completely dominated the 1st, only to go completely to sleep through most of the second. Then, in the 3rd it looked like a sure win was to be had with the Bears up a goal with less than 2 minutes to play and Huntsville killing a penalty, but that 'light' switch in legs and heads turned completely off, allowing a desperate Huntsville, with their goalie pulled just to match us with 5 skaters, to tie the game with mere seconds remaining. It was a tie that felt worse than a loss. On the positive side, it was a feeling that surely no one wants repeated... a feeling that can and should be remedied! 3 of 4 points were gained on the weekend was also a small consolation. We are 1 point behind Huntsville in the MPS standings with a game-in-hand. Home ice in the 1st round of playoffs is our's for the taking if only we play the full game like we've shown we can!
