10 days. 7 games. 14 points!
Not even professionally conditioned hockey players are asked to play 7 regular season (meaningful) games and 2 practices in 10 days but this is what the Progressive South Muskoka Midgets just did!  To their credit... they gained the maximum 14 points!

The 1st 4 games were covered in the previous article.  The last 3 games were not easy.  The 1st was a late night visit to Elmvale. They have some big smooth skating players who can also be abrasive at times.  With only a little time to regroup coming off the previous 4 game weekend, the Bears continued to find their scoring touch. They also met the physical play with some of their own! They were clearly dominant in this one winning 5-1

Next up was another 'away' game to visit a very tough Midland team.  Midland was sporting a 13 win and 3 loss overall record for their season so far including a previous 6-3 win over the Bears.  The Bears however, are starting to see their 'team play' improving and as a result, Midland faced a much more cohesive and confident team. There was really no question what the outcome would be and the 6-2 win for the Bears was indicative of the play.

The final weekend game was back home in our Gravenhurst rink for a rematch against Elmvale. Their coach expressed some concern for their 'smaller' players prior to the game but when their players started to get rough, the boys were given the green light to respond...and respond they did!  The score ended 3-0 for the Bears.  It was a very solid win but a bit closer than it needed to be with penalties reducing our scoring chances.

It should be noted that our goaltending tandem who has thus far equally shared the net, played very well during this stretch to compliment the efforts of the extremely hard working team in front of them.

The team now has a few welcome days to rest!  We have a practice on Tuesday and Team/Individual Pictures will be taken at practice on Thursday so come prepared for the Major Midget's traditionally creative team pictures!

Finally, our home tourney is this coming weekend. Lets hope the boys continue their great play of late!
