Progressive Waste Solution Midgets Enjoy A Winning Weekend!
It's not common except during tournaments, that a team plays 4 games in 4 days but this is what the Midgets just endured.

First on the schedule was Stayner visiting the Bear's den Friday.  It was a combination of a weaker team, some decent play and FINALLY some scoring touch. The  game ended 8-0 for the Bears.

The second team faced, once again in the Bracebridge arena was Penetang.  A much tougher game was expected and they did give us everything we could handle for 2 periods before being worn down by the Bears.  The game ended with a 7-3 win.  We knew to not get overconfident as Penetang was undermanned due to some suspensions and the always tough Huntsville squad was the next opponent.  Still, it was a good game to once again find that scoring touch.

The third game on Sunday was the much anticipated match against Huntsville taking place in Gravenhurst. As expected the Otters came out banging and it was a very fast and physical game all night.  The Bears weathered the barrage of hits and kept to their game plan of playing within the rules and as a result they were able to gain the upper hand. It was a gratifying 5-2 win.  The players proved to themselves that if they play hard and play the 'right way' they can beat a very tough opponent.

Finally the last of the 4 game stretch was in Stayner. The team was missing a few players but still managed a decisive 7-1 win.

These 4 games provided a much needed boost to the team's overall season record to 10-8-0.  Hopefully some confidence was gained not just in scoring touch but also recognizing the positive result was due to playing a less risk-taking style, staying on the 'right side of the puck' and generally better 'team' play.
