Fowler Peewee Rep Win Round 1 of Playoffs!
For the last two weekends the South Muskoka Bears took on their rivals, Huntsville in a best of 5 series.

Game 1 was in Bracebridge.  Early in the 2nd the Bears were up 3-1 and going strong.  Mid way through the second though the Otters came on strong and got 3 unanswered goals. Going into the 3rd it was 5-4.  The Bears fought hard but lost the game with the Otters scoring an empty netter and winning 6-4.

Game 2 was on the big ice in Huntsville and the Bears knew it was critical to not go down 2-0 in the series. Huntsville scored first, 3 minutes into the game.  After that the Bears team shut down Huntsville and scored 3 or their own to win the game 3-1.

Game 3 was back on home ice.  Mid way into the 2nd the Bears found themselves on a 5 on 3 power play and up 3-1.  Unfortunately the Bears could not take advantage of the power play and the momentum shifted to the Otters.  The Otters scored late in the 2nd to make it 3-2.  The 3rd period was a battle at both ends and with 1 min left in the 3rd Huntsville scored the tying goal to send it into overtime.  The Otters ended the game 2 minutes into the OT period and took a 2-1 lead in the series.

Game 4 was back in Huntsville and was do-or-die for the Bears.  After a close and stressful 3 games the Bears came out flying and didn’t give the Otters much room to move.   The Bears won the game 4-0 with Porter getting a well-deserved shutout.

Game 5 meant one team was going to advance and one team was going home packing.  Otters scored first halfway through the first but the Bears came on strong scoring 2 goals in the last minute of the first period. Huntsville answered back scoring 2 quick goals early in the 2nd taking the lead 3-2.  Late in the 2nd the Bears tied up the game making it 3-3.  No scoring in the 3rd forced the game into overtime.  The Bears must have been pumped because it only took 14 seconds of overtime to score the game and series winner.  Way to go Bears!!!

The Bears now move on to play Collingwood in a best of 5 series.
