Christmas Break Starting On A High Note.
Back-2-back away games in Minden, driving through the first major snow storm of the season was how the team ended a hectic fall schedule.
The team is still suffering some major injuries and line-up changes but 2 excellent practices through the week showed many positive signs of 'jelling' and also a very positive up-beat state of mind. It was still a question if this attitude would hold up against the always tough Highland Storm, but they more than held their own and in fact played a solid game coming out with a convincing 4-2 win. It was a very late drive back to Bracebridge in white-out conditions with most players not getting into their beds until well after midnight.
The following day was game two, again in Minden and again the drive was on snow and ice covered roads. Down yet another player in the lineup due to some equipment issues, it was again a big question whether this positive team attitude would prevail 2 games in a row with an even further depleted line-up. There was never a question. The team dominated play, got very good goaltending and repeated the score from the day before, once again winning 4-2.
It was great weekend for the boys who proved that they have the ability to take a good opponent down with a solid team effort. Now they have a well deserved two weeks to rest up, heal a few bumps and bruises, and come ready to step it up a notch for the MPS Tourney before taking on their first opponent in the OMHA Playoffs.
