CALVACADE FORD BANTAMS BEARS BRING HOME SILVER IN WEEKEND ACTION
The Calvacade Ford bantam Bears dazzled in weekend tournament action as they headed West for the annual Collingwood Huronia Hockey Tournament held Oct. 16-18th.Friday Oct. 16th had the Bears facing off against the Dundas Blues.......

While the Blues squeaked in an early goal, South Muskoka found their feet quickly and responded with a flood of net-side rubber.  Ryan Henderson tallied the first marker, Shane Dowling provided [a hat-trick and Keegan Mitchell secured two goals of his own. Forward Cole Ruddell was a crucial playmaker with 2 assists.
Defensemen  Brennan Maher and Connor Marling both had a strong presence on the ice as they held the blue line and shot down the offense.
Netminding duties went to Brad Webb who kept his crease off limits securing the 6-1 win.

Game 2 saw the Bears facing off against the Lambeth Lancers.
Not an overly strong team, the Lancers made the Bears work for this win.
Dowling netted two goals finally putting South Muskoka on the scoreboard.
Rookie forward, Travis Newman battled hard for the puck then nailed a rocket top-shelf, to make this a 3-0 game. Defensiveman Max Larock made his presence known as he assisted Mitchell for the final goal of the game.  Bears skated off with a 4-0 final with
Preston Huntbach locking the shutout.

Game 3 was a battle from the moment the puck dropped.
Tournament favourite, the Pelham Panthers hit the ice with big players and a calm composure.
The rubber was end-to-end the entire game. Forwards Josh Dikeos, Conor Quemby and Tyler Weese all worked hard to cycle the puck creating multiple scoring opportunities.
While Pelham and South Muskoka played a gritty physical game, it was also clean and impressive. Defensemen Jack Lyndon and Tyler Soucy played solid games with smart passing and swift justice.
A fabulous game from start to finish, Pelham was ruthless with their speed, passing and stick-handling.  This game went down to the final few seconds and ended with the Panthers winning 2-1.
Once again Brad Webb was honed in on what was demanded from him but unfortunately it was not enough and the Bears lost this round.

Game 4 was a result of South Muskoka finishing 1rst in their loop.
A rematch against the Lancers, had the Bears feeling fatigued and it took almost an entire period before they were able to hit pay dirt.
Not South Muskoka's finest moment, they did manage to tally five goals and skated off as winners of this game . Final score was 5-0.

Games 5 brought the championship within reach and had the Bears pitted against the Panthers once again.
As the food chain was fairly even, the Bears gave the Panthers a run for their money. Winger, Joel Antonides worked hard along the boards while defenseman Kristopher Brinks used his size to pinch tight and move the puck.
Unfortunately, the hockey Gods were not in sync with South Muskoka and the Panthers proved to be too much.
A 4-0 loss had the boys bringing home hardware nevertheless as they finished Silver.
It was a proud moment as the boys held their heads high, shook hands respectfully and exemplified stellar sportsmanship.
