Lincoln-31st Annual Doug Robinson
This weekend (Nov.20-22) saw the Stevenson Pee Wee Bears head off to Lincoln for the 31st Annual Doug Robinson Tournament.

Game 1, Friday afternoon saw the Bears face off against the Glanbrook Rangers. This was a team that took a win from them in their home tournament, and they were looking to settle the score. Unfortunately, Glanbrook had two unanswered goals by the end of the second period, for a 2-0 lead. The Bears hit the ice in the third determined to get the game back, and with only 20 seconds in, finally put one on the board. Glanbrook soon answered with their third goal, holding the Bears off with a 3-1 final.

Saturday saw the Bears head to the rink eager for a win. Game 2, the Bears met Mentor Team Audi, originating from Ohio. With steady pressure and solid defence the Bears netted one late in the first period. The second period saw the Bears sticking with their game plan, undeterred by the well dressed Team Audi who was upping their game with some physical play. Team Audi saw several players head to the box, and the Bears capitalized on a penalty shot late in the second. They finished the period with another unanswered goal, making it a 3-0 game. Team Audi came out in the third, netting two quick goals, showing the Bears they were still in it. The Bears refocused and held on to the lead for a 3-2 win.

Game 3 saw the Bears face off against the Lincoln Blades in an elimination round. The Bears broke the ice with a goal mid-way through the first period. The Blades refused to take a back seat on their home rink and fired shot after shot, but the Bears goaltender stepped up and shut them down. The Blades eventually relented and the Bears were able to send another one home for a 2-0 lead. The third period saw the Blades come out playing physical. This earned them some penalty minutes, but also a goal in the final minutes of the game. The Bears held them off for a 2-1 win, the second of the day. On to the semi-finals!

Sunday, game 4, saw the Bears once again face off against the Glanbrook Rangers.

It was head to head hockey with neither team able to find the net for the first two periods. In the third, Glanbrook finally netted one, taking advantage of a power play. From that point on they never looked back and finished the game with a 3-0 win over the Bears.

The Stevenson Pee Wee Bears made a solid team commitment throughout this tournament, enjoyed some great hockey and had a fun time. Special Thanks to the Lincoln Blades for a well organized weekend and to all of our families for their continued team spirit and support!
