The Muskoka Aircraft Refinishing Atom Bears
Sweep Huntsville in Round 1 of the OMHA Playoffs!!!!!
The Muskoka Aircraft Refinishing Atom Rep South Muskoka Bears faced off against the Huntsville Otters in the first round of the OMHA playoffs. The regular season series was tied 2-2 so both teams knew they would be in for a battle.
In game 1, Huntsville jumped out to an early 1-0 lead, but the Bears fought back causing havoc on Huntsville's defence with their relentless fore-checking, led by Parker McAdams, Alex Clayton and Tyler Crockford. This continual pressure on the puck led to turnovers and scoring chances for South Muskoka. Mitchell Hammond scored 2 goals, with an assist from Mitchel Pate. Graydon Guthrie added another as the Bears came out with a 3-2 win.
In Game 2, Graydon Guthrie put the team on his shoulders scoring 4 goals with Kale Rogers adding another in a 5-2 win. Our defense played fantastic with the duo of Phoenix Atkinson-Tripp and Euan Greenfield continually shutting down the constant attacking Huntsville forwards. Rock solid defense from Sebastian Stephen allowed his defensive partner Ewan Davis to jump into the offense, leading several rushes and a beautiful assist to Guthrie against the Otters.
In game 3 against the Otters, Huntsville scored first and continued to attack the Bears creating a number of scoring chances. Thankfully, Bears goalie Ben Armstrong continually shut the door not allowing Huntsville to get that 2 goal lead. Brock Fry scored to tie the game, and then added a second on a great pass from Nolan Quesnelle, giving South Muskoka the lead in the game. Armstrong played his best game of the season for the Bears between the pipes, allowing South Muskoka to pull away with additional goals from Guthrie and Ewan Davis leading to a 4-1 win to close out the series. The Atom Rep South Muskoka Bears move on to play Collingwood in the next round of the playoffs.
