Big School Night Win for the NorStar Novice Rep Squad
The NorStar Novice Rep Bears made the short trip across Hwy 118 to take on the Muskoka Rock in Port Carling Tuesday night and came away with an 11-3 victory
After a delayed start the NorStar Novice Rep Bears showed they were on a mission from the first drop of the puck. They brought quick feet and strong positional play to the Port Carling Arena tonight.
After the first period they were holding a 2-0 lead with some sharp shooting from J. Chambers and E. Brown courtesy of nice passing plays from L. Downer and C. Walker on the 1st goal while E. Gliddon and B. Clayton set up the 2nd.
The team only gained more strength and momentum in the second period tallying 7 goals in 10 minutes while T. Babcock stood tall turning aside 2 breakaways. J. Chambers and E. Brown tallied their second goals of the game while L. Downer, T. Jennings J. Jennings, and Brayden Mackinnon with two all found the net. Sharp accurate passing from W. Davidson. G. Cardwell, P. Boyde, and the rest of the Bears made all the goals possible.
Going into the third period the players were all given new positional assignments to try out and B. Clayton's swift skating was able to get him in front to score his first goal of the year. C. Carlson's relentless pressure around the cage all night saw his hard work pay off with the final tally of the game. Some poor door operation by Coach Davidson resulted in the team being two players down for the final minutes of the game but T. Babcock continued to come up with save after save.
All the players showed great sportsmanship in working the puck around to their teammates while each trying positions they don't regularly play at. The coaching staff couldn't be more proud of the professionalism and work ethic displayed by all the Bears throughout the game. We bet every player will be smiling a little bigger for picture days this week at school. Happy Thanksgiving to all.
