HOME TOURNAMENT WINNERS
Greavette South Muskoka Minor Midget Bears pulled off four wins in their home tournament this weekend and walked away as tournament Champions!!!!

The Minor Midget Bears played three games Saturday.  The first against Ingersoll which they won 2-0.  It was a close game tied at zero until the third period when Will Cairns took a pass from Daniel Neilson and was able to slam the puck into the back of the opponents net.  Then only a minute later Sye Ellard scored the second of the game with Angus MacGibbon and Everette Nudd getting the assists.  Mason White played outstanding and was able to shut out the visiting team.  The final score of the game was 2-0 giving the home team the win.

The second game was against Lincoln and again was a close game with no score until almost the end of the 2nd when Murray Awram fed the puck to Angus who was able to get one past the Lincoln goalie putting us on the board.  The score remained 1-0 giving us our second big win.  Jamie Gee stood on his head with his first shut out of the tournament.

Game three was against Erin Hilsburgh and the Bears were on fire scoring 7 goals and only giving up 1 all game.  Sye, Angus and Ryan Readman each scored two goals and Daniel got his first goal of the tournament .  Angus, Everette, Sye, Sam Stewart, and Alex Gee all received at least one assist each.

These three wins put the Bears in first place and Lincoln ended up in second place so these two teams faced each other again Sunday for the championship.  It wasn't looking too promising due to penalties and two power play goals scored by Lincoln, one in the first period and the second in the third period but the Bears fought hard and with only five minutes left in the game Angus was able to squeeze one past Lincoln's goalie narrowing the gap and giving the team hope.  Then a couple minutes later Angus scored again and we were back in the game.  At the end of regulation the two teams were tied at 2-2 so a five minute 3on3 overtime was necessary.  Everyone played their hardest and no one was giving up.  It looked like it was going to a shootout but then with only a minute left in the game Sye stepped it up a notch and scored the game winner making the Bears the tournament champs!!!!  What a win.  Good job guys.  Way to come back and win it all.
