SUCCESSFUL WEEKEND FOR THE MINOR BEARS
ORILLIA JIM WILSON WINTER CLASSIC - TOURNAMENT CONTINUES..........
Although they didn't win the gold medal game the Greavette South Muskoka Minor Midget Bears proved that it certainly could of been any teams tournament to win.
Game one the Minor Bears pulled off a 2-0 win against the hosting Orillia Terriers. Game two they played the Toronto East Ender TiCats winning 8-0. Game three was a close game against Dorchester but South Muskoka walked away with a 3-1 win. After the round robin games South Muskoka was tied with Huntsville, both teams ending up with 3 wins and 6 points so it came down to penalty minutes to break the tie. South Muskoka got a bye and were sent straight to the finals where they ended up facing Huntsville who played in the semi finals against the Toronto Eagles winning 3-1. The Bears came out strong and made it to the last minute of the 1st period before Huntsville was able to slip one by the Bear goaltender Jamie Gee. The Bears continued to play hard through the second period when Forward Everette Nudd scored their first goal of the game assisted by Defenseman Sam Stewart tying things up. The score remained tied at one goal each until the third period when Huntsville scored their second goal and the Bears were just not able to recover. Although the Bears did not win the tournament this game was a great accomplishment for them and shows how much the team has improved and how far they have come over the season. Congratulations to the whole team and coaching staff, you should all be very proud!
