NORSTAR NOVICE BEARS SPLIT TWO
The NorStar Bears had two games heading into the Thanksgiving long weekend. The first was a Friday evening exhibition match up against the Orillia Terriers and the second against a Midland Centennials team looking to get even.

The Friday night game the Terriers came out firing and firing fast with 4 goals in the first period.  The Bears tightened up their defence in the second and managed to get 4 of their own, closing the gap.  Orillia managed to get a few more in the second with the Bears scoring one more in the third but the early Orillia lead was just too insurmountable for the Bears to overcome. The Bears played hard to make a comeback but had to settle for a 9-5 loss.

The second game pitted the NorStar Bears against Midland to finish up their regular season home at home series.  The Bears knew that Midland would not be the same team they were a few weeks ago when the Bears threw them in a cage on their home turf.  The puck dropped and Midland won the face off passing quickly to one of their wingers to score within the 1st 8 seconds of the first period.   This rattled the Bears and they needed to pull it together to play their game.  The Bears Jacob Budney stole a pass and flew into Midland's zone and snapped a sweet top corner to tie it up.  The Bears looked to be back on steady ground and their passing was precise and on the mark.  The Defence was strong and tight end to end.  However, Midland scored two more during the first period to take what appeared to be a dominating lead.  The Bears were aggravated and hungry to take control with Graydon Guthrie popping in two, Thompson one and Downer one.  The Bears were back in the lead 5-3.  The third period was equally as exciting when Midland scored to make it 5-4.  Thompson sealed the deal adding some insurance at 6-4, Midland tried hard to split the series adding a 5th but the Bears held on for the 6-5 win.  Phenomenal game from all of the NorStar Bears.

Next weekend will put the Bears to the test when we head to the Caledonia Challenge Cup for our first tournament of the season.  GO BEARS GO!
